why does a book fall faster than paper

Paper can fall significantly faster once it is crumpled because the surface area that makes contact with the air is substantially smaller. There is absolutely no air beneath the sheet of paper when it is placed on the book. The two items fall at the same rate as a result. The name of this so-called force is called gravity.
